Hamilton teenager wins new set of wheels

Logging on to the RACQ’s learner driver website to watch a practical driving skills video has paid off in more ways than one for Hamilton teenager Cassandra Meizys.

The 18-year old high school graduate not only picked up some very useful driving tips – she also won a brand new car and a year’s insurance worth more than $23,000.

Ms Meizys was presented with her Suzuki Swift Z Series prize at the RACQ’s Eight Mile Plains corporate office today.

When Cassandra logged on and registered at www.Learn2go.com.au  and started viewing the practical skills videos, she automatically qualified to win a prize.

“I still can’t believe I’ve won a car, much less a brand new Suzuki Swift,” Cassandra said.

“Until now, my sister and I have relied on multiple trips on public transport to get to school and work, so being able to drive means the world to us.”

Cassandra said she found the Learn2go website videos helpful as she worked on her practical driving skills. She is scheduled to sit for her provisional test in a week’s time.

Congratulating Ms Meizys on her win, RACQ chief executive Ian Gillespie said Learn2go provided resources to help young drivers build key skills and achieve the 100 hours of supervised driving required to sit for their driver’s licence test.

“The Learn2go program has a variety of useful resources available free to learner drivers and supervisors to help L-platers not only get their licence but also to reinforce a safe and responsible attitude towards driving,” Mr Gillespie said.

“The Learn2go website also features advice on important issues for new drivers, such as a practice road rules test and car maintenance tips to help get them off to the best possible start.”

Presenting Cassandra with her new car today, Suzuki sales and marketing manager Stephen Craig said the company was delighted to partner with RACQ in the promotion of improved driving skills for young drivers.

“Queensland’s licensing requirements are designed to reduce the number of deaths and injuries among young drivers, who are the most vulnerable people on our roads, and are in line with our Way of Life motto,” Mr Craig said.

“Suzuki is committed to helping young drivers improve their skills, evidenced by our ongoing support of the Learn2go program. “
