Storm damage claims top 2500
The company’s chief executive, Bradley Heath, said many policyholders who were victims of Sunday’s storms had heeded the company’s advice and already lodged a claim.
“With extra claims staff and assessors on hand to provide assistance, this has meant we are already inspecting damage and have begun authorising repairs,” Mr Heath said.
“Claims have involved everything from power outages resulting in the loss of freezer contents to homes where fallen trees have caused major structural and contents damage.
“Based on the number received so far, we believe the total claims figure for RACQ Insurance will climb to more than 4000 with a probable damages bill topping $25 million for RACQ Insurance alone.”
Mr Heath said that while around five percent were motor vehicle claims, the vast majority were for damage to homes and content.
“Claims are being prioritised according to the level of damage and personal need and customers can contact us on a dedicated claims hotline – 13 7202.”
