RACQ's key sponsorship is the helicopter rescue network, which provides a mantle of safety to about three million people across southern, central and north Queensland on a daily basis.
Lost bushwalkers, flood-bound farming families, sailors in distress, injured mining workers, sick babies who need transferring from regional centres to major intensive care facilities and victims of road crashes, are among those to whom Queensland’s community-based helicopter rescue network provides life-saving services.
RACQ also supports a range of other vital community activities.

Guidelines & Applications

As a mutual dedicated to improving the safety of motorists, their vehicles and the roads they drive on, RACQ is keen to support organisations and activities that allow us to connect with our members, their families and their communities.
We support activities that complement our business objectives, values and advocacy efforts, with the aims of:
- enhancing our reputation, image and brand;
- providing real benefit to the communities in which we operate; and
- leveraging opportunities that will be of overall benefit to RACQ's business and membership.
Sponsorship Categories

As Queensland’s peak motoring body, RACQ supports programs aligned with:
- Road Safety
- Young People and Education
- Community
- Environment
Road Safety
As the state’s leading advocate for road users, RACQ sponsors programs that actively promote and enhance road safety. An example is RACQ’s support of the Queensland Road Safety awards. These awards, managed by the Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety Queensland (CARRSQ), recognise and honour inventions and innovations developed by community groups, companies, industry groups, schools, and local and state government, to improve road safety.
Young People and Education
RACQ recognises the importance of supporting young people who are road users, whether as drivers, cyclists or pedestrians, and runs internally developed programs such as the Streets Ahead Road Safety program for primary school students.
Community
RACQ is a mutual organisation and through its strategic sponsorships aims to maximise member benefit and interact with the broader Queensland community. An example of its community involvement is RACQ’s naming rights sponsorship of the four major air medical rescue helicopters throughout Queensland. We pride ourselves in supporting these operations which incidentally are tasked to a range of medical and retrieval operations involving both adults and children.
Environment
RACQ recognises the impact that vehicles and road infrastructure have on our environment and is committed to combating pollution and greenhouse gas emissions through greener motoring initiatives. An example of RACQ’s commitment to this area is the sponsorship of the Queensland Wildlife Rehabilitation Council’s bi-annual newsletter which is sent to carers of wildlife that are often injured as a result of being hit by a vehicle.
Sponsorship Criteria

Sponsorship applications RACQ will consider
To gain RACQ approval, we’d prefer if your sponsorship application incorporates the following elements:
- The event, program or activity is based in Queensland.
- The proposal is for a genuine not-for-profit program or activity that provides a service or other benefit for the community, on either a local or state basis.
- RACQ members and their families are among the current or potential beneficiaries of the sponsored activity.
- The proposed sponsorship arrangement aligns with RACQ’s advocacy and business objectives and values.
- The sponsorship offers the RACQ brand, and its products and services, a high degree of visibility within the local or wider community, plus other measurable benefits such as positive media coverage.
- The sponsored event, program or activity is either a proven proposition in terms of its merit or ability to deliver community and sponsor benefits, or is supported by a sound business case demonstrating its potential to deliver such benefits.
Even if your application meets most or all of the above criteria, it may not be approved due to budget or other constraints.
RACQ is a state-wide organisation. Its portfolio of sponsorships focussing on south-east Queensland is currently at capacity. For this reason, sponsorship opportunities that offer exposure in other regions of Queensland will be given priority until further notice.
Sponsorship applications RACQ won’t consider
RACQ will not support the following:
- Organisations that cannot provide satisfactory details of the service delivery, financial or other relevant benefits of their activities.
- Party political organisations or activities.
- Religious organisations or activities, except where they involve the provision of recognised community welfare services.
- Any activity involving or promoting unsafe practices or breaches of accepted community standards.
- Organisations or activities that are considered discriminatory against any section of the community.
- Events, programs or activities where the involvement of another sponsor would be contrary to, or in direct competition with, RACQ’s reputation, advocacy activities or commercial interests.
- Events, programs or activities that do not provide measurable outcomes.
- Sports teams and activities.
- Programs and events that promote the use of cigarettes and alcohol or are jointly sponsored by manufacturers of such products.
Apply Now
Applicants must appreciate that due to the sheer volume of proposals received, along with RACQ’s current commitments to long-term sponsorships, not all proposals will be successful.
RACQ recognises that requests for support come with a variety of expectations ranging from requests for merchandise, gifts or in-kind support, through to high-level financial investment partnerships.
Given the variation in requests for support, RACQ has two application processes:
- For requests of sponsorship (prize donations, financial or in-kind support) worth less than $1000.
- For requests worth $1000 and above.
Requests for sponsorship (prize donations, financial or in-kind support) worth less than $1000
Step One
Ensure your request falls into one of RACQ’s sponsorship categories and also meets the sponsorship criteria.
Step Two
Complete the Sponsorship Application Form for requests worth less than $1000.
NB: All requests for sponsorship under $1000 must be received at least two (2) months prior to the date of the event or start of an initiative. This ensures that RACQ has time to assess the proposal and allows for maximum exposure in the lead up to the proposed activity.
Requests for sponsorship of $1000 and above
Step One
Ensure your request falls into one of RACQ’s sponsorship categories and also meets the sponsorship criteria.
Step Two
All requests for sponsorships worth more than $1000 are to be submitted in writing, either though providing a comprehensive sponsorship proposal or completing the Sponsorship Application Form.

However, RACQ does on occasion make exceptions for outstanding opportunities. To maximise the opportunity of inclusion in RACQ’s sponsorship portfolio, requests for sponsorship must be received at least three months prior to the start of an initiative. Requests with less then three months lead-time will not be considered.
