Aussie Assist

Aussie Assist is an additional benefit provided at no extra cost with RACQ Comprehensive Car Insurance.  It’s an emergency assistance service designed to give medical or travel help when you and/or your family are travelling in Australia, more than 100km from your home. You don’t even have to be using your car to take advantage of it.

If your emergency is more like a missed plane or stolen wallet, help is available for you as well. In fact, Aussie Assist can help you out with almost anything that might go wrong while you’re travelling.

Assistance in sourcing spare parts

Where your vehicle suffers mechanical or electrical breakdown and parts are not available locally.

Travel assistance

We provide access to a phone service that can assist with making changes to travel arrangements, the booking of accommodation, and the provision of an emergency message service. If your personal effects are stolen, we can organise the transfer of your own funds or clothing and if your credit cards are stolen or lost we can assist with their cancellation.

Emergency expenses

If unexpected injury/illness or theft of your motor vehicle occurs, we will arrange and pay for up to 2 nights accommodation and ground transport for the motor vehicle.

Medical assistance

Doctors and nurses are available by phone to assist in:

• dealing with enquiries
• referring you to a local doctor
• helping organise admission to hospital
• monitoring your medical treatment while you’re in hospital
• transferring necessary medical records
• communicating with your family doctor, relatives and friends

Transportation costs

If unexpected injury or illness occurs, and you or your family are travelling other than in a motor vehicle, we will arrange and pay for the transportation of the ill or injured person and family members travelling with them. If the ill or injured person needs hospitalisation for at least a week and can’t be moved, we’ll organise and pay the travel expenses for a family member to be brought to the hospital. Alternatively, if the doctor agrees you can be moved, we’ll get you home or to another hospital.

Bereavement expenses

If an immediate relative dies suddenly back home, or you or a family member dies whilst travelling, we will pay for transport for you and your family plus pay for the ground transport for the motor vehicle in which you were travelling.
