What you get with your policy

Queensland experiences its fair share of extreme weather and we want to make sure you’re protected. We cover you in the event of:
- flood and water runoff
- storm, cyclone, hail, fire, earthquake, tsunami
- lightening and power surge
- animal damage
- impact, explosion
- theft and vandalism
- leaks - bursting, leaking, discharging or overflowing of liquids
$20 million legal liability cover
We will pay up to $20 million in legal liability if an accident occurs at your insured address. This benefit covers the liability of you and anyone who permanently resides with you at the property.
Emergency Home Assist
Get immediate help in the event of an emergency with your home (eg. burst pipes), 24 hours a day, by calling 1800 800 552.
If a leak has caused loss or damage to your home, we will pay the reasonable costs to locate where it is coming from.
We will pay for the cost of repairing or replacing glass in certain items that are part of your home. (e.g. a skylight, basin, glass cook top or fixed glass).
Clean up costs
We will pay the cost of cleaning up mess or damage caused by a thief, vandal or forensic police investigation.
Extra living expenses
While your damaged home is being rebuilt or repaired, we will pay your reasonable extra living expenses. For example fees to connect electricity, phones and gas, or temporary fencing for your pet.
If an insured event renders your home unfit to live in, we will pay the cost of reasonable emergency accommodation for up to 14 days. We also cover ongoing accommodation costs for up to 12 months if your home needs to be rebuilt.
Demolition and design
We pay the reasonable costs to demolish and/or design your home after an event. Reasonable costs include survey work, design work, related legal work, exploratory work, and demolition.
We will pay up to $500 per claim to re-key, recode or replace locks on external doors at your home. With this benefit you have no excess.
If you rent out the insured home, we will pay you the net loss of rental income, for up to 12 months from the insured event, if it is declared unfit to live in while repairs are carried out.
Contents in storage
Cover for contents that you store away from your home for up to 60 consecutive days.
Contents in transit
We will cover your contents in particular situations while you are moving them to a new residence in Australia. Cover extends for 14 days from the day you start to move.
Contents in a safety deposit box
Cover for the contents that you keep in a safe deposit box at a financial institution.
Storage costs after an event
We will pay the reasonable costs to store your contents if you need to move out of your home because of an insured event.
We will cover the cost of gifts you bought for a special occasion, such as wedding or Christmas gifts, if they are lost due to an insured event.
Credit card misuse
We pay certain costs you may be liable for if your credit card or other financial transaction card is lost or stolen.
Removal of debris
We will pay for the reasonable costs of removing the debris caused by an insured event.
Temporary removal of contents
We cover the contents you have with you while you are away from your home for up to 30 consecutive days. For example, if you have your camera or laptop with you in a hotel.
We will pay up to $1000 to replace personal documents, such as marriage certificates or passports that are lost or damaged by an insured event.
We will cover your contents, up to $5000 collectively, while they are in a lockable room on a student campus within Australia.
If we pay your claim for an insured event, we will also pay up to $500 towards the costs of replacing your visitor’s contents.
Security firm response
We pay up to $750 to reimburse you the cost charged by your security firm to respond to an alarm signal at your home because of an insured event.
Emergency services damage
We will pay up to $1,000 for loss or damage to your home caused by emergency services gaining entry to your home.
We will pay up to $5,000 to assist you with funeral expenses if you or a member of your family dies as a result of an insured event.
We pay the cost to replace water that is stolen from your outdoor water tank. This benefit attracts no excess.
Optional benefits are available with our Home and Contents Insurance policy, allowing you to extend your coverage for an additional cost.

Under this benefit, we cover you for accidental damage and motor burnout. For example, if you trip and knock a lamp which crashes into your television or spill a glass water onto your laptop while using it at home.
With this option you can cover up to two of your four-legged friends.
We will cover up to $500 for veterinary care for each separate accidental injury or illness suffered by your dog or cat. This optional benefit does not cover elective, routine or preventative veterinary care, for example injections or worming.
This cover includes the loss or damage to domestic electrical items up to 10 years old (e.g. fridge, oven, dishwasher). We will also cover you for the loss of any refridgerated or frozen goods resulting from motor burnout or power interruption.
You can choose to cover portable items for a higher value than what we cover them for under our standard policy. Portable items can include DVDs, coats and bags, jewellery, photographic equipment and more.
Your PDS outlines the two ways to cover your portable items – selected or group cover. This cover extends to across Australia and New Zealand. Limits apply.
Cover the valuable items inside your home for more than what we cover them for under the standard policy. You can nominate the sum insured.
Landlord fixtures and fittings
If you are a landlord, this allows you to insure your floor coverings, light fittings, window coverings, and other fixtures and fittings for a higher value than our standard policy.

RACQ member loyalty discount
Are you an RACQ member? We’ll reward you with up to 17.5% discount on your Home and Contents Insurance.
If you have three or more qualifying insurance policies with RACQ, you may be entitled to up to 5% off each of your eligible policies.
Combined insurance discount
If you’re an owner-occupier and decide to combine your home and contents into a single policy, you can save up to 13% on your premium.
No claim discount
Haven’t made a claim in the last 12 months? You may be eligible for up to 7% off your premium.
Over 55 discount
Are you 55 years old or over and an owner-occupier, tenant, or nominated insured? You may qualify for a discount of up to 10% off your home insurance and up to 15% off your contents insurance. Note that you can only claim one of either the Over 55 or Senior Card Holder discounts.
Senior card holder discount
If you hold a Seniors Card, are an owner-occupier or tenant, and a nominated insured you may qualify for up to 15% off your home insurance and up to 25% off your contents insurance.
If you live in a unit, duplex, townhouse or villa you may be eligible for up to 20% off your contents premium.
If you have an alarm that is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week you may be eligible for up to 10% off your contents premium.
