Honda's City sedan shares mechanicals with the Jazz hatch. But pricing for the VTi-L is the same as its slightly larger brother, the Civic VTi 1.8.
City VTi-L offers good safety features, though disappointingly no ESP as standard or option.
Our five-speed manual city proved an easy car to drive with sufficiently competent steering and handling, plus well laid out controls enhanced by tilt steering and on VTi-L, reach adjustment also.
The 1.5-litre engine is a willing worker though not overburdened with torque, needing to be revved to give its best.
For its size, interior space is good and the boot is surprisingly large, though the hinges aren't concealed and intrude into useable space.
Safety: Dual front, front side and full length curtain airbags, ABS, EBD, BA, front seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters.
Key Features: 16-inch alloys, air conditioning, alarm, cruise control, MP3 compatible CD with USB and aux inputs.
