The C3 is remarkably mainstream for a Citroen. Its styling, apart from the curved front pillars and quarter windows, is unremarkable and Citroen’s trademark hydraulic suspension is absent.
In fact, it isn’t that different from many other cars in the segment. Even the interior, in shades of grey and black is plain, though stylish.
Front seat leg room is good, however rear seat space is limited and three adults in the back would be quite a squeeze.
On the road, the C3’s 1.6-litre engine is a modest performer.
It gives satisfactory performance around town, however it shows its limits in the country where all but the smallest hill dictates a downshift. The ride is firm and the high body styling promotes some roll on corners. The gearshift has quite a long travel that can make selecting first gear a stretch.
