Child Restraint Checklist

Choose the right child restraint

A large variety of child restraints are available for sale in the Australian market. For this reason, it is vital to understand the importance of having a restraint that is suited to your child's age and size.

The first thing to consider when choosing a restraint is:

  • Age

This is to ensure they are secured in the right restraint for their age, as per the legislation. The second thing is their:

  • Weight and / or
  • Height

It is important not to prematurely progress your child to the next type of restraint.

They should remain in the suitable restraint for their age and size for as long as they can until they have reached the maximum capacity as advised by the manufacturer.
