Need assistance selecting the right Battery Charger? RACQ Batteries have a number of battery chargers available for sale and recommend the following steps in helping you make the right choice.
RACQ has a range of Battery Chargers available through staff Patrols or through the online shop and participating branch.
| Step 1 |
Identify the size of the battery you need to charge (see the table below for Amp hour ratings). Batteries sold in Australia are rated in Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) and Reserve Capacity (RC). To get an approximate Amp hour (Ah) rating of your battery at 25 Amps, multiply the RC x 0.4167. eg. 90RC x 0.4167=37.5Ah. Note - these details can be found on the battery label located on the top or side of the battery. If you are unable to find this information, please contact RACQ Technical Advisory for assistance. |
| Step 2 |
Identify what you need the charger for: Maintenance Mode - is used to maintain a fully charged battery only. This mode will not recharge a discharged battery. Maintenance Mode charging is only recommended for people who use their vehicles infrequently or go away for extended periods. |
| Step 3 |
Identify the battery type: (Note: all RACQ Batteries are Calcium/Calcium) Note - Most standard automotive batteries are lead acid hybrid/calcium or lead acid calcium/calcium. These details can be found on the battery label located on the top or side of the battery. If you are unable to find this information, please contact RACQ Technical Advisory for assistance. |
| Step 4 | Identify the features you need. |
Purpose of charger
| CTEK XS 800 | Suitable for charging small batteries and used as a maintenance charger of batteries up to a max of 100Ah. |
| CTEK XS 4003 | Good all round household charger, suitable for charging most car batteries and used as a maintenance charger of batteries up to a max of 140Ah. |
| REDARC SBC1205 Smart Charger | Professional quality charger used to charge and maintain the full range of batteries from 25Ah to 200Ah. |
1 All Charge times quoted are for the charge time to recover a battery from discharged condition. These times are approximate only and vary depending on the condition of the battery and the amount of charge required. Refer to the manufactures websites for more information.
2 Charging Mode is used to recharge a discharged battery to a normal condition.
3 Maintenance Mode is used to maintain a fully charged battery only. This mode will not recharge a discharged battery.
* Charge cycle is limited to 25 hours and switches to Maintenance Mode. If required switch the charger off, then on to restart charging mode. (See the manufacturer's instruction manual for more details).
