Story Bridge Adventure Climb - Brisbane

The Story Bridge Adventure Climb is an adventure experience with a difference and is the most spectacular way to discover Brisbane.

The Story Bridge Adventure Climb offers a 2½ hour adventure climb to the very top of Brisbane's Story Bridge. The Story Bridge Climb is one of only three such experiences in the world.  From the summit of the bridge, climbers enjoy uninterrupted 360° views of Brisbane, its river and surrounding mountains.

Throughout the climb, climbers hear commentary from the climb leader covering the bridge’s history and Brisbane’s transition from 19th century penal settlement to 21st century metropolis.

To take advantage of the special RACQ member prices, you must pre-purchase your tickets. Purchase online,  visit an RACQ branch  or phone the RACQ on 1800 629 501. 

RACQ suggests phoning Story Bridge Reservations on 1300 254 627 prior to pre-purchasing your tickets, to ensure availability for your selected date of attendance.  Selecting a date for attendance when pre-purchasing your tickets from RACQ does NOT guarantee availability for that date.

Once you have purchased your tickets from RACQ you MUST reserve your places by calling Story Bridge Reservations on 1300 254 627.

Climb operations and reservations operate seven days a week.

To participate in a climb, climbers must be 10 years of age or over with a minimum height allowance of 130cm. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult (maximum of three children per adult).

Story Bridge Adventure Climb terms and conditions

• Book your climb in advance to avoid disappointment. Tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and specific to the climb specified in the booking.
• Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled climb time. Climbs will not be delayed for latecomers. If you are late, climbs will not be rescheduled and no refunds will be given. 
• Tickets, email confirmation or vouchers must be presented with identification when checking in for your climb.
• You will be asked to read, complete and sign a declaration form before climbing.
• Safety is paramount – we do everything possible to ensure the safety of climbers and our personnel but we must rely on you to tell us if you have a medical condition or impairment that could put you or others at risk. Possible risk factors include: asthma, epilepsy, angina, diabetes (or similar conditions), back or leg related physical concerns or similar conditions including those associated with pregnancy. (*Conditions for pregnant climbers apply.)
• Vertigo (fear of heights) - For the entire duration of the climb, all climbers will be attached to a static line. Our Climb Leaders are experienced in supporting and encouraging those who become nervous while climbing. If you have any concerns, please advise the Climb Leader before the climb begins.
• A person cannot participate in the climb if their blood alcohol concentration is 0.05% or greater; or they are under the influence of legal or illegal drugs. We reserve the right to breath test all climbers. If a climber refuses to be breath tested, SBAC will deny the person participation in the climb and will not issue a refund to the climber.
• Children must be 10 years of age or over with a minimum height allowance of 130cm. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult. One adult climber must accompany every three child climbers.
• Wear suitable footwear for support and grip e.g. runners, track shoes, hiking boots.
• You will be provided with a bridge suit to wear over existing clothing along with appropriate safety equipment, including wearing a harness belt.
• Other items that can be supplied include hats, handkerchiefs, sunglasses lanyards, all-weather jackets, fleece jackets and sunscreen.
• Climbers are not permitted to carry personal items during the climb including cameras, video cameras, pagers, mobile phones and handbags.
• We will provide climbers with a locker in which to store their personal belongings during their climb.
• Brisbane’s famed ‘livability’ is due in large part to its mild, warm climate. This allows the Story Bridge Adventure Climb to operate all year round. However, being sub-tropical, the city does experience electrical storms during summer that may cause the delay or cancellation of climbs. Strong winds may also have the same effect. Climbs will be rescheduled but no refunds will be given. 
• Story Bridge Adventure Climb operates year round, excluding Christmas Day and three days in September for the Riverfire Festival – dates for Riverfire Festival can vary from year to year.
• Pensioner rate applies to those over 60yrs old, driver's licence is required as proof of age on check-in.
