Western Plains Zoo is Australia's premier open range zoo and home to more than 1000 animals from around the world, many of them endangered species.
The zoo is located at Dubbo in central New South Wales, approximately 400 kilometres from Sydney and almost midway between Melbourne and Brisbane on the Newell Highway.
The 300-hectare open range zoo is divided into five geographical areas - Africa, Eurasia, North America, South America and Australia. The animals live in large open displays which reflect their natural habitat. Don’t forget to ask about the special Animal Encounter tours.
