Itinerary

Day 1    Los Angeles (3 nights)
Welcome to the City of Angels! A complimentary transfer is provided to the tour hotel where your Travel Director will be on hand to greet you and answer any questions you may have about the exciting days ahead. At 6 p.m., gather at the hotel with your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception. Hotel: Hyatt Regency Century Plaza.

Day 2    Hollywood Sightseeing - Santa Monica
As the sun rises on Los Angeles, head to the hills for a view of the famed Hollywood sign. Then take a stroll along the Walk of Fame and see Grauman’s Chinese Theater, opened in 1927 and home to hundreds of premieres and three Academy Award ceremonies. Speaking of the Academy Awards, enjoy a private tour of the Kodak Theater, current home of the Oscars. This afternoon, follow the sleek, stylish Angelenos to beachside Santa Monica with its pedestrian-friendly Third Street Promenade and its iconic pier, which stretches out over the sun-kissed Pacific. Enjoy a Highlight Dinner tonight in one of Santa Monica’s renowned restaurants.

Day 3    Los Angeles at Leisure
Los Angeles is the city of dreams. Pursue yours today, whether it’s a trip to Venice Beach, shopping at Rodeo Drive boutiques or a visit to the renowned Los Angeles County Museum of Art. If you like, take an optional excursion to Universal Studios Hollywood Theme Park and Studio Tour to get a behind-the-scenes look at movie making. This evening is on your own to enjoy a night on the town -- take in a show or linger over a gourmet dinner.

Day 4    Los Angeles - Calico Ghost Town - Las Vegas (2 nights)
Travel east into the deserts of California until you reach the ghost town of Calico. Founded in 1881 on the heels of the largest silver strike in the state, the town was abandoned just 20 years later. Today, walk among some of the original mine buildings, stroll a reconstructed Main Street and imagine the rough-and-ready life of a prospector. Then make your way through the stark Mojave National Preserve before arriving at a barrage of lights breaking the wilderness: flashy Las Vegas. Celebrate your trip through the desert with a spectacular all-you-can-eat Las Vegas Buffet Highlight Dinner where expert chefs whip up fantastic dishes right before your eyes. Tonight, try your luck at the tables, take in a show or just get out and enjoy all the sights and lights on The Strip. Hotel: Paris Las Vegas.
 
Day 5    Las Vegas at Leisure
The day is yours and the choices are endless: Hit the casinos, do some shopping and maybe enjoy lunch at one of the elegant restaurants that have put Vegas on the culinary map. If you’re feeling adventurous, take an optional tour to marvel at the engineering feat that is Hoover Dam, or soar over the natural wonders of the Grand Canyon to walk on the breathtaking glass Sky Walk overlooking the West Rim.

Day 6    Las Vegas - Temecula - San Diego (2 nights)
Say good-bye to Sin City and head back to California, stopping in the lovely town of Temecula, situated among rolling hills dotted with vineyards. Enjoy a visit to a local winery for a guided tour and private wine tasting. Continue to laid-back San Diego, site of the first Spanish mission in California. Hotel: Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego.

Day 7    San Diego sightseeing and at leisure
From the Victorian Gaslamp Quarter to the luxuriant gardens of Balboa Park, San Diego entices visitors and locals alike with a combination of fascinating history, lively street life and some of the best weather in the country. Get acquainted with the city on a guided orientation tour and then enjoy some leisure time to do some shopping, take an optional tour to the San Diego Zoo or a cruise on the picturesque harbour. This evening, sample the flavours of Mexico in the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. Then, lift a Margarita and say Salud! to your fellow travellers at tonight’s Farewell Dinner at a lively Mexican restaurant.

Day 8    San Diego - San Juan Capistrano - Anaheim - Los Angeles
Travelling up the coast past the idyllic community of La Jolla, arrive in San Juan Capistrano, home to the second oldest mission in California. Visit the ruins of the Great Stone Church, the iconic Bell Tower and the peaceful Sacred Garden, before arriving in Anaheim where travellers opting for the Disneyland® Resort extension will disembark. The rest of the group returns to Los Angeles where you may take a complimentary transfer to Los Angeles International Airport or the tour hotel in Los Angeles if you want to extend your stay in southern California.
