RACQ and Hunter Travel Group JV set to take flight
RACQ has announced a joint venture (JV) partnership with Hunter Travel Group (HTG), one of Australia’s largest privately-owned and managed travel agency groups.
The JV would bring together Australia’s two largest automotive club travel businesses, RACQ Travel and RACT Travel, and create a major player within the travel industry.
RACQ Assistance CEO Glenn Toms said the joint venture would allow RACQ to build a stronger and wider travel business and continue to provide innovative service for members.
“This is a great result for our members who will have access to a more comprehensive suite of products and bespoke tours,” Mr Toms said.
“HTG is the largest branded member of the Helloworld Travel Network, which allows better buying power, more competitive pricing and larger and more consistently available offers for our members.
“While there’ll be no visible in-store changes, customers will enjoy a better online experience and access to a 24/7 concierge call centre.”
HTG Managing Director Brett Dann welcomed the JV.
“RACQ has 1.7 million members, many who like to travel, so we want to provide them with great service and insights from our 20 years in the travel business,” Mr Dann said.
“Our two organisations share many of the same values and culture, which is an important foundation from which to grow harmoniously. This is an exciting new phase of our travel business and for our employees and members alike.”
Mr Toms confirmed RACQ Travel customers who already had holidays booked would not be affected by the joint venture announcement, aside from minor updates to travel documents.
“It’s business as usual for us during this busy travel booking period, so our team can continue to provide a great experience to members. Then from June 2019, we’ll begin a rolling transition across to HTG’s systems.”
