Driver warning – rain for SEQ

Motorists across south east Queensland have been warned to drive to the conditions, with wet weather set to last until the weekend.

Already a crash on the Bruce Highway near Forest Glen on Thursday morning has resulted in extensive delays of up to one hour.

RACQ’s Lauren Ritchie said after long dry spells, just a little water could make roads greasy and harder for motorists to manage.

“It’s vital motorists slow down, put their lights on and increase the distance between you and the vehicle in front during wet weather,” Ms Richie said.

“We often see an increase in crashes during wet weather when people are going too fast for the conditions.

“If there’s a strong downpour and you don’t feel safe, pull over and wait until it passes.”
