Qld border restrictions to tighten further
RACQ has warned motorists border restrictions, road closures and police numbers were about to ramp up between the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads.
Gold Coast Bulletin reported from 12.01am Friday 3 April there would only be three entry points into the state through the Gold Coast, with roadblocks on all roads except the M1, the Gold Coast Highway and Griffith Street.
RACQ spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said from Friday any non-Queensland resident, who did not have an exemption, would not be able to enter the State at all.
“If you try to cross the border police will turn you away, unless you live here and have an entry pass or have an exemption such as work, you’re required to travel for medical reasons, or are involved in transporting freight,” Ms Ritchie said.
“Border restrictions have already been in place for a week and should come as no surprise to anyone.
“Now is not the time to be traveling, unless it’s absolutely necessary. We must all do our part to protect the health and safety of Queenslanders.”
