Truck, crane rollover forces major road closure

Planned closures to retrieve a semi-trailer which rolled on a major road in far north Queensland have been delayed.

The Cairns Post reported police planned to close Gillies Range Road in both directions on Thursday so a semi-trailer carrying a crane, which crashed and rolled near Yungburra on Wednesday afternoon, could be recovered.

RACQ spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said police have confirmed the retrieval would take place on Friday or next Tuesday.

“When police attempt to recover this semi-trailer it’s likely the road would be closed for up to six hours so it’s important drivers plan their journey as they could face lengthy delays,” Ms Ritchie said.
