On the ground help for our members
RACQ has brought in a local support team to help our members in Springfield, who were impacted by Saturday’s superstorm, process their insurance claims.
Club spokesperson Renee Smith said RACQ’s Mobile Member Centre (MMC) had rolled into Springfield overnight to help lodge claims from Tuesday.
“The MMC is our fully equipped ‘branch on wheels’ and will have a number of insurance claims staff onboard ready to help members impacted by the weekend’s storms,” Ms Smith said.
“It will be set up in the carpark of the Orion Springfield Shopping Centre from 8am until 5pm, where our RACQ branch is also located, and that’ll allow us to help twice as many people each day.
“The MMC was purpose built following Cyclone Larry in 2006 to respond to natural disasters and allow us to be on the ground where our members need us most.”
RACQ would also have claims staff at the Insurance Council of Australia’s Community Recovery Centre, located next to the YMCA at 63 Springfield Lakes Boulevard.
Ms Smith said damage claims have continued to pour in through our telephone lines and online lodgement forms with the team receiving and managing more than 2,000 claims for motor vehicle damage and 1,400 claims for property damage in the first few days.
“We’re experiencing a large volume of phone calls to our Brisbane based call centre with thousands of affected members attempting to get through. We are working as quickly as possible to get to everyone because we know this is a very stressful experience for all our members” she said.
“The fastest place start your claim is online, so we’d urge you to head to www.racq.com.au/claim to notify us, then one of our team members will be assigned your claim and will come back to you as soon as they can.
“The significance of the damage and the volume of claims means in some cases it will take some time for us to process them, but of course, we’re all working around the clock to get our impacted members back on their feet as soon as we can.
“Of course, we urge any members based locally with urgent enquiries to come in to our RACQ branch or MMC at Orion Springfield Central, where you can discuss your claim in person. We have specialists on hand to help you.”
