Tolls lifted on Logan Motorway as M1 southbound remains closed
The State Government announced tolls would be waived between 10.45am and 6pm Friday to cater to the tens of thousands of cars attempting to travel south.
Emergency services were called at around 8.40am and the motorway was shut in both directions while Queensland Fire and Emergency Services battled the blaze.
RACQ’s Lauren Ritchie said motorists and commuters heading south should expect delays well into the night.
“All northbound lanes are now open but we expect lengthy delays southbound while the clean-up operation continues,” Ms Ritchie said.
“Logistically this is a very tough clean-up operation with the truck containing sulphuric acid and must be escorted by emergency services from the scene which will take a long time.
“If you’re heading out and need to use the M1, check RACQ’s road conditions website or call Queensland Traffic on 13 1940 to find an alternative route.”
