Six months to Comm Games
Six months out from the start of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, south east Queensland motorists have learned about more road closures that will be in effect during competition.
The Triathlon and Marathon courses have now been announced, giving locals and spectators more information on the potential impact on traffic in April.
The Triathlon would be based in Biggera Waters, with the cycle leg comprising of four laps of a 5 kilometre route between Southport and Biggera Waters. The run leg will cover a 2.5 kilometre stretch between Southport and Labrador.
The Marathon course has also been unveiled, showing the course would extend from Burleigh Heads to Runaway Bay. Major roads like the Gold Coast Highway, The Esplanade, Marine Parade and Hedges Avenue would be impacted.
Get Set for the Games has been launched to help spectators and locals navigate any changes to the road network during the event.
RACQ’s Road Conditions would also feature live road closure information throughout the ten day event.
