Woman airlifted after lookout fall

The new RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called into action to airlift a woman after she fell from a lookout in outback Queensland.

The woman in her 80s was walking along the track at Cawnpore Lookout, 430km south east of Mount Isa on Wednesday, when she fell and suffered a suspected fractured ankle.

The patient was treated at the scene by the Queensland Ambulance Service before being airlifted by the rescue chopper to Mount Isa Hospital.

This was the sixth mission performed by the new BK117 helicopter since it arrived in Mount Isa in July.
