Pack your patience for first day of border bubble

The State’s peak motoring body has urged residents living on the Queensland/New South Wales border to be patient and allow extra travel time during the first day of the border bubble.

RACQ spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said locals were able to apply for Border Zone Resident pass and would be able travel freely within the border zone.

“NSW residents in the bubble can travel throughout the included postcodes for any reason but can’t travel any further into Queensland,” Ms Ritchie said.

“Border zone residents are also not allowed to travel into the rest of NSW, otherwise they’ll be blocked from entering Queensland for 14 days.

“Border passes will also need to be updated every seven days, or if circumstances change.”

Ms Ritchie said there were still some delays at the Gold Coast/Tweed Heads border checkpoint.

“We all need to do our part to keep Queensland safe, so it’s important you’re patient, allow extra travel time, have your declaration and ID with you to ensure the process goes smoothly,” she said.

“Before you hit the road, you can check for delays by visiting the RACQ Road Conditions website.”
