Gold Coast Bulletin reported commuters would be able to cross the border at Nerang Murwillumbah Road, near Natural Bridge, from Friday, seven days a week between 7am and 7pm.

RACQ spokesperson Lauren Ritchie reminded drivers they would still need a valid border pass to enter Queensland.

“Police have requested this particular checkpoint only be used by locals,” Ms Ritchie said.

“While, this new crossing point will be convenient for people living in the area, remember if you’re travelling across the border it still needs to be for a legitimate reason such as school, work, freight or medical treatment.”

The application for an exemption border pass can be found here.
