No fuel between outback Qld towns
RACQ has warned outback drivers there was no fuel available between Boulia and Birdsville after a fire destroyed the petrol station Simpson Desert Oasis at Bedourie on Monday evening.

North West Star reported no one was hurt when the blaze broke out, but the building was gutted.
Club spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said drivers would need to have enough fuel in the tank to travel at least 380 kilometres before they could fill up.
“The Simpson Desert Oasis Roadhouse at Bedourie is a popular fill up point for travellers on the Diamantina Developmental Road but with that out of action there is no fuel available for the roughly four hour trip between Boulia and Birdsville,” Ms Ritchie said.
“We’re urging drivers to be aware of the outage and to make sure they have enough in the tank and in their reserves to get them across the stretch.”
Ms Ritchie said it was unclear when the fuel supply would be back online.
“We don’t know how long the station will be out for so it’s important drivers prepare adequately for their journeys going forward,” she said.
“Check RACQ’s Road Conditions to calculate driving distances between towns by, fill up where you can and heed ‘last fuel’ and ‘no fuel’ warning signs.”
Investigators were still determining the cause of the blaze.
