Free travel on Brisbane trains
RACQ has urged Brisbane commuters to take advantage of free travel on Queensland Rail services over the next four Mondays.
The offer would apply to all Citytrain services, including Airtrain, on 18 and 25 November, and 2 and 9 December, to thank commuters who stood by the service.
Club spokesperson Renee Smith said commuters would not be required to touch on or off with their go cards on those days or purchase a paper ticket.
“All gates will be open, all you need to do is simply turn up and ride for free,” Ms Smith said.
“We hope Queenslanders will get on board the free train trips and show the Government there is strong demand for high quality public transport and a need for continued investment.
“It is also a great opportunity for those who don’t usually catch a train to give the Citytrain network a try.”
Ms Smith said while the Club was pleased commuters were being rewarded, improvements were still needed to improve public transport services across the south east.
“We know that transport costs take up a large portion of household budgets, so the free travel will certainly be appreciated, but we know what commuters really want are more frequent and reliable services.”
