15 metre fall prompts bush walker’s rescue

A bush walker who had fallen 15 metres from a mountain south of Biggenden, has been winched to safety by RACQ LifeFlight Rescue.

The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew was tasked just before 1pm on Sunday after it was reported the woman, aged in her twenties, had slipped down a steep gully on her way back from the summit. The woman’s family, who had been hiking with her, raised the alarm.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue team winched the Queensland Ambulance Service Flight Critical Care Paramedic and LifeFlight Critical Care Doctor to the scene where they treated the woman’s minor injuries. After the patient was stabilised, she was moved onto a stretcher and then airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further treatment.
