More traffic changes on the way around Kingsford Smith Drive

RACQ has warned motorists Grays Road in Hamilton would be closed in both directions from Monday 20 July for up to three weeks, as part of the Kingsford Smith Drive upgrade works.

Club spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said traffic would be detoured around the closure via Racecourse Road and Windemere Road.

“There will be signage to help motorists find their way over the next few weeks as works continue in the area,” Ms Ritchie said.

“These changes are temporary and necessary, as Kingsford Smith Drive is widened from four lanes to six.

“As with any roadworks site, please slow down and be on the lookout for changed traffic conditions.

“These works have been ongoing for years now, so motorists should be well aware of disruptions in the area, but we can’t become complacent.”

Ms Ritchie said access to Toorak Road from Kingsford Smith Drive had also been closed since the beginning of the month to enable installation of underground services and pavement construction.

“Again, traffic will be detoured around the area and signage will be in place to help pedestrians navigate their way around the construction,” she said.

“You can keep up to date with traffic and road closures on the RACQ Road Conditions website.”
