Free tolls as roadworks continue: RACQ

Motorists could travel for free on the southbound lanes of the Go-Between Bridge and Clem 7 tunnel on Sunday night, as works continued on the Captain Cook Bridge.

Club spokesperson Renee Smith said works would works will take place from 11pm Sunday 21 June to 5am Monday 22 June, after works were completed on the northbound lanes last month.

“If you do normally use the southbound lanes for travel at this time, you can use the alternative toll options for free,” Ms Smith said.

“There will also be detours in place to help guide motorists.”

Ms Smith said maintenance works were being done to prolong the life of the bridge and meet future transport needs.

“The bearings at the southern end of the Captain Cook Bridge are being replaced,” she said.

“Works will continue next weekend, with the bridge closed from 11:30pm Friday 26 June to 5am Monday 29 June.”
