Chopper lands on cruise ship to airlift tourist

The RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter has landed on the deck of a cruise ship 200 kilometres off the coast of Queensland to airlift a tourist suffering severe abdominal pain.

The crew was called to the Royal Carribean’s Voyager of the Seas near White Tip Reef, 185 kilometres east of Hamilton Island.

The RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter landed on the ship’s helipad at 5.30am to collect the 72 year old female patient. The chopper stopped to re-fuel at Hamilton Island before it arrived safely at Mackay Base Hospital.
