Crane closes South Brisbane roads

The State’s peak motoring body has warned drivers to prepare for road closures at South Brisbane over the weekend as a large crane was set to be removed from a construction site.

RACQ’s Lauren Ritchie said the road closures would impact Grey Street between Earnest and Vulture streets, and Tribune and Colchester streets until Monday 23 April.

“We know South Brisbane and South Bank are popular haunts on the weekends, but these construction works mean anyone heading there needs to be aware their plans their travel,” Ms Ritchie said.

“It’s also likely there’ll be a bit of congestion around due to the operation, so your best bet is to check the RACQ’s Road Conditions website before you set off.”

Ms Ritchie said detours would be in place for northbound traffic via Vulture Street, Cordelia Street and Ernest Street.

“For those heading south, traffic will be redirected via Ernest Street from Merivale and Vulture Streets,” she said.

Residents and businesses would still be allowed in to the exclusion zone but Ms Ritchie reminded drivers to be patient if they were driving around the area.
