RACQ hail assessment centres to open on Gold and Sunshine Coasts

After a severe storm lashed south east Queensland with large hailstones, RACQ has opened two motor vehicle repair and assessment centres for its members in affected areas.

RACQ spokesperson Lucinda Ross said on Thursday, the insurer had received more than 3,300 motor vehicle and home claims since the weekend’s severe weather event

“The hailstorm impacted many of our members on the Gold and Sunshine Coast, with the claims team receiving more than 2,000 motor vehicle repair requests in the first 72 hours,” Ms Ross said.

“These numbers are increasing each day and we have deployed additional resources to impacted regions to address this demand as quickly as possible.

“Members who have lodged a motor vehicle claim will receive a text message or phone call from our selected partner, Platinum Hail Management Solutions, to organise an appointment at their nearest assessment centre.”

While members were not required to obtain quotes for repair beforehand, they were encouraged to request a call-back or lodge a claim online to ensure they would be contacted promptly.

“We want to get Queenslanders back on the road as quickly as possible, so our team is working hard to contact each affected member and organise an assessment time,” Ms Ross said.

“This is a stressful time for our affected members, and we ask that you do not attend an assessment centre without an appointment time, as you will have to wait until a time becomes available.

“Please contact our claims team directly who will be in touch to manage any claims and repairs.”
