Captain Cook Bridge to close for maintenance
RACQ has warned drivers the northbound lanes of Captain Cook Bridge would be closed this weekend as a series of scheduled maintenance works began.
The Courier Mail reported traffic control and detours would be in place to assist motorists as the 50-year-old bridge was underwent necessary works.
RACQ spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said the bridge would close from Sunday 24 May at 11pm and re-open at 5am on Monday morning.
“Motorists should plan an alternative route if they usually use the Captain Cook Bridge for northbound travel as these works are completed,” Ms Ritchie said.
“The northbound bridge will also be closed again on Friday 29 May evening to early on Monday 1 June.
“In late June, the southbound lanes will experience similar closures as bearing replacement works are completed.”
