Shop around to dodge pricey fuel in Toowoomba
RACQ has warned Toowoomba motorists to avoid filling up the tank at the bowser, as prices remained expensive in the lead up to Christmas.
Club spokesperson Vivien O’Connor said the latest average for unleaded petrol (ULP) was 134.1 cents per litre (cpl).
“Prices are high in Toowoomba at the moment so motorists should only fill up the tank if they have to,” Ms O’Connor said.
“There’s the possibility that we’ll see prices drop soon, but it won’t be anything substantial before Christmas.”
Ms O’Connor said the good news for motorists was that a handful of service stations in Toowoomba were selling ULP for less than 120cpl, so it was worth shopping around.
“The most expensive sites are charging 135.9cpl, but a handful of retailers are offering fuel for around the 116cpl mark,” she said.
“It’s times like this it’s important to use apps like the RACQ Fair Fuel Finder to make sure you’re not being ripped off at the bowser.
“Further west, ULP can be found for as little as 105.7cpl in Helidon Spa and 113.9cpl in Gatton.
“It only takes a minute to check a few prices and you could make some substantial savings.”
