Bruce Highway cut after double fatality crash

RACQ has warned drivers to avoid the Bruce Highway at Bloomsbury near Proserpine, after a horrific double fatal crash closed all lanes early this morning.

Daily Mercury reported two people had died and a third person was hospitalised after a collision between a car and a truck on the O'Connell River Bridge at Lethebrook at 6am on Friday.

RACQ spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said motorists should avoid the area while fire crews were cleaning the highway of oil, fuel and debris.

“All lanes of the highway are currently blocked and lengthy delays are expected,” Ms Ritchie said.

“While traffic is limited to essential travel only, we recommend drivers visit RACQ’s Road Conditions website beforehand for the most up-to-date delays and diversions.”
