Major traffic changes ahead from Bruce Highway upgrade

The State’s peak motoring body has warned drivers of upcoming traffic changes as part of works to upgrade the Bruce Highway between Caloundra Road and the Sunshine Motorway.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads advised the southbound entry ramp from Pignata Road to the Bruce Highway, and the southbound Exit 188A to Caloundra Road would be closed from Tuesday for approximately eight weeks.

RACQ spokesperson Lucinda Ross said the changes would affect the way motorists from surrounding areas access the Bruce Highway and adjoining roads.

“Drivers coming from Pignata Road, wanting to access the Bruce Highway southbound, will be detoured via the Caloundra Road and Racecourse Road interchange,” Ms Ross said.

“Meanwhile, motorists travelling south on the Bruce to Caloundra will take a temporary ramp from the highway about 900 metres north of the existing Exit 188A. They’ll then travel on a new section of the southbound carriageway to access Caloundra Road.

“There’ll be signage, traffic controllers and police present to help motorists navigate the changes, but it’s important everyone drives safely and patiently through the work site.”

Further information about the traffic changes could be found on TMR’s website.
