Chopper searching for missing hikers

A search has resumed for two hikers who spent the night in bushland near a central Queensland gorge.

RACQ Capricorn Rescue were tasked to a search and rescue at Carnarvon Gorge on Thursday after 16 hikers failed to return from a walk.

Despite poor conditions, 14 of the group were located, however two hikers remained in the bush overnight. It was believed that one person may have suffered an ankle injury.

The RACQ Capricorn Rescue crew were in Emerald on Friday awaiting an improvement in weather conditions before resuming the search.
