Bikeway to close for urgent works

RACQ has urged cyclists to plan for disruptions along a major bike route into the Brisbane CBD while urgent works were carried out.

Brisbane Times reported the Veloway 1 bikeway in Woolloongabba would be closed throughout October, from Monday to Friday between 8pm and 5am. It would also be closed for two full weekends between 4–7 October and 1–4 November.

RACQ spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said diversions would be in place at Allen Street, while Energex started urgent maintenance works on the power grid.

“During these closures, cyclists will need to detour onto Vulture Street, before getting on Lower River Terrace,” Ms Ritchie said.

“Those planning to use the Veloway 1 next month should allow extra travel time for the diversions, and drivers should also be aware of more cyclists travelling along alternative routes.”
