All aboard new train services for SEQ
RACQ has welcomed news Queensland Rail would add 32 new weekly train services to the south east Queensland timetable from Monday.
The Courier Mail reported Logan commuters would benefit from a new morning service which would leave Beenleigh for Central at 4:33am, Monday to Friday.
RACQ spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said commuters in Brisbane, Cleveland, Logan, Ipswich, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast would benefit from the extra services.
“The new timetable will create an extra 200,000 seats across the network every week,” Ms Ritchie said.
“This means more regular public transport for commuters and less time waiting to get to work or home.
“We hope this will save people precious time they could otherwise be spending with their families or doing things they enjoy. For people to ditch the car and take public transport and reduce our growing congestion problems we need more reliable services going to the places we want to visit.
Ms Ritchie said a new inbound morning service would also depart from Springfield Central at 6:27am and another from Nambour 5:38am every weekday.
“These new times will assist people who need to get to work early in the city or for anyone wanting to beat the peak-hour rush,” she said.
“For commuters who travel from the Gold Coast everyday, an extra service will depart Central for Varsity Lakes at 2:44pm.”
A full list of the new services could be found on the Queensland Rail website.
