Rolling road closures in store for Brisbane

RACQ spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said major routes around Hamilton, Eagle Farm, Paddington, Bardon, Toowong, South Brisbane, Morningside and Dutton Park would be affected for parts of Sunday morning.

“Many of the roads will be opened by mid-morning, but some roads won’t be opening until after midday so it’s important motorists do their research before getting behind the wheel,” Ms Ritchie said.

“The Inner City Bypass around Bowen Hills and Lutwyche will be impacted by the competition, and parts of Hale St southbound will also be affected, so drivers will need to take care travelling around those areas.”

Ms Ritchie said while the event covered a large number of suburbs, organisers had tried to keep lanes open where possible.

“There could be some delays for those trying to travel through those suburbs until after the event has completed, so we’re urging drivers to adhere to police instructions and traffic response officers and be patient.”
