Major track closures: All northern lines suspended

RACQ has warned locals heading to and from Brisbane CBD this weekend all northern rail lines would be closed for maintenance works.

Queensland Rail advised the closures would run from the first service on Saturday 29 August until the last service on Sunday 30 August, with normal services resuming on Monday 31 August.

RACQ spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said commuters should plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

“Railbuses will replace trains between Bowen Hills, Shorncliffe, Kippa Ring and Gympie North stations, but it’s important to note that northbound buses won’t be stopping at Dakabin station,” Ms Ritchie said.

“There may be delays, so anyone travelling this weekend should allow extra travel time to ensure you’re not caught out.

“If you decide hop in the car and drive instead check RACQ Road Conditions to plan the quickest route, and keep across traffic and road closures.”
