RACQ has warned a truck rollover in Fortitude Valley has blocked inner city lanes and caused frustration and delays for Brisbane commuters.

The truck carrying debris rolled at Kemp Place, near the southbound lane of the Story Bridge, just before 7am Monday and caused heavy congestion from Gipps Street to Bowen Bridge, near the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital.

RACQ spokesperson Clare Hunter said commuters should avoid the area.

“Emergency services have put diversions in place but anyone trying to cross the Story Bridge or heading southbound into the CBD will be looking at a slow drive in,” Ms Hunter said.

“There’s extensive debris across the road so it’s going to take a while to clean up.

“Look for an alternative route or avoid that area altogether and if pack your patience if you’ve got no choice but to be driving near there.

“For the most up to date information of roads and traffic check RACQ Road Conditions before you set off.”
