Free tolls as Captain Cook Bridge works continue

RACQ has encouraged motorists travelling northbound through Brisbane CBD to make use of free tolls this weekend, as maintenance works continued on the Captain Cook Bridge.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads will waive tolls on the Go-Between Bridge and in the Clem 7 tunnel while the bridge was partially closed for maintenance.

Club spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said free travel would start on Friday 29 May at 11:30pm and finish on Monday 1 June at 5am.

“If you would normally travel northbound on the Captain Cook Bridge, you will be able to use the alternative links for free over the weekend,” Ms Ritchie said.

“It’s great to see the Department of Transport and Main Roads is saving motorists that cost.”

Ms Ritchie said tolls would also be waived for southbound travel when the bridge partially closed again later in June for further works.

“At the end of June, the southbound lanes will close over two weekends to complete the repairs,” she said.

“These are planned maintenance works to replace the bearings at the southern end of the bridge.”
