Commuter chaos as major CBD road closed

RACQ has warned Brisbane commuters to expect delays into the city, after a fatality involving a truck and cyclist closed a major road this morning.

The Courier Mail reported police had closed Bowen Bridge Rd at O’Connell Terrace at Herston after a truck and a cyclist collided at 7.36am.

RACQ spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said drivers should seek an alternate route with long delays expected.

“Only one lane northbound is open and southbound traffic is being diverted into Campbell Street but we’re seeing delays on Lutwyche Road and Albion Road,” Ms Ritchie said.

“Motorists should avoid the area if possible, and allow extra travel time if they’re heading into the city.”
