A love for reading
RACQ is giving away 5000 free reading books in support of the 2019 Premier’s Reading Challenge.
Queensland school students who registered to participate in this year’s Premier’s Reading Challenge are reading as many books as they can before the completion closes on the 23 August.
The state-wide initiative for prep to year nine students and is designed to improve literacy, learning and encourage reading for pleasure.
RACQ Chief Communication Officer Paul Turner said RACQ is proud to support the education of students.
“RACQ is a proud sponsor of the annual Premier’s Reading Challenge and, to show our support for this year’s challenge, we are giving away 5000 free books to kids from Prep to Year 9,” Mr Turner said.
“This is one of our many initiatives that help support schools and kids’ education in Queensland.
To be successful in the challenge students must read or experience an allocated number of books based upon their year level during the reading period.
Students who complete the challenge will have their efforts recognised through a Certificate of Achievement signed by the Premier of Queensland in term four.
To help students select from a range of fiction and non-fiction books suited to their ability the Reading Centre has developed a booklist online.
