A new way to buy and sell cars
Facebook has launched an automotive marketplace in Australia.
Facebook revolutionised the way we view social media, and now the tech giant has made its first venture into Australia’s automotive marketplace.
The new service, recently launched in Australia following success in the UK and US, enables car dealers and the public to buy and sell cars on the social media platform.
Accessed through the Marketplace tab on either the app or website, it allows prospective buyers to search through thousands of used and new cars.
Buyers also have the option to filter down results by proximity, year, make, model, kilometres travelled and transmission.
If the buyer wants any more information, contact with the seller is instantaneous through Facebook Messenger.
It’s not only private sales getting in on the action, with dealerships across Australia also listing their entire catalogue of cars and motorbikes available for purchase.
So far, Facebook has teamed with car selling and trading platforms The Drive Network, Autotrader Australia, Carsales, I-Motor, Dealer Solutions, AdTorque Edge, EasyCars and more to populate the site.
The move into the automotive marketplace was long predicted after Facebook launched its eBay and Gumtree competitor Marketplace in 2016.
