From Mount Panorama to Gormanston, these are the roads to travel.

Love to drive but bored of the mundane suburban streets and straight highways? Look no further than these roads which are sure to excite regardless of what car you’re driving.

Mount Nebo and Mount Glorious Roads, Queensland.

For a scenic drive, look no further than Mount Nebo. The stretch of road is a 20-minute drive from the heart of Brisbane. Drivers can continue to Mount Glorious, which at almost 700 metres above sea level offers more scenic views and twists and turns.

Gold Coast 600 Street Circuit, Queensland

To drive like a pro, head to Surfers Paradise and test your skill on the circuit driven by V8 Supercar legends. Outside of the Gold Coast 600, the street circuit comprises regular suburban streets.

Mount Panorama, New South Wales

One of Australia’s most revered racing tracks, Mount Panorama is also a public road. On non-race days, cars can drive in both directions around the circuit which has 174m vertical difference between the highest and lowest points. You will still need to stick to the 60km/hr speed limit though.

Gormanston Road, Tasmania

Famous for its twists and turns, the winding road out of Queenstown has unofficially been dubbed ‘99 Bends’. It’s the most fun stretch of road you will encounter on Tasmania’s west coast. The curvaceous six kilometre route has been completed in just over four minutes by the Targa Tasmania rally team.

Great Ocean Road, Victoria

In terms of scenery, this is possibly the best entry on the list. The Great Ocean Road is a 243km stretch beloved by Australians and tourists alike for its world-class views through pockets of rainforest, seaside towns and limestone cliffs.

Adelaide Hills, South Australia

Made famous by the Targa rally and annual Tour Down Under event for cyclists, this network of winding roads is sure to please motoring enthusiasts with its beautiful backdrop and nearly endless bends.

Zig Zag Scenic Drive, Western Australia

It may be the shortest route on this list at little more than three kilometres, but the twists and turns on Zig Zag Scenic Drive are worth it. The hairpin turns are reminiscent of roads in the Italian countryside and drivers who stop at the top will have views of Perth and the coast.
