Cob loaf recipes

Take your dips to the next level by serving them in cob loaves.

A cob loaf dip is essentially a hollowed out loaf of bread filled with dip. The bread removed from the loaf is toasted for dipping. Here are some great cob loaf dips for you to try at home.

Spinach dip

  • 250g frozen spinach
  • 250g cream cheese
  • 300ml sour cream
  • 40g packet French onion soup mix

Cheesy dip

  • 250g cream cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cream
  • ¼ cup shallots, lightly fried

Corn dip

  • 250g cream cheese
  • 300ml sour cream
  • 400g can creamed corn
  • 40g packet French onion soup mix

Bacon and cheese dip

  • 300ml sour cream
  • 2 spring onions, chopped finely
  • 40g packet French onion soup mix
  • 300g bacon rashers, diced and cooked
  • 1 cup cheese of your choice


  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees fan-forced.
  2. Cut the top off the loaf and use your hands to remove most of the bread, leaving roughly a 1-2 centimetre thickness on the inside.
  3. Place the loaf and torn bread from the inside on a baking tray for 5-10 minutes until crispy and hard to the touch. Remove and set aside to cool.
  4. Fill the loaf with your choice of dip.
  5. Present to guests and enjoy. You can also serve with vegetable crudites for more variety.
