RACQ is not just looking after Queenslanders on the roadside or with their holiday, insurance and banking needs, but also entertaining them with quality lifestyle and motoring content.

First released in 2009 as Road Ahead Lifestyle, RACQ Publishing’s digital footprint has gone from strength to strength, renamed and redesigned as RACQ Living in 2015 and again, on 24 July 2018.

The new RACQ Living will feature seven distinctive sections including Your Place, Out and About, Road Trip, Drive, Money, Holiday and Buzz.

In addition, the new site will also feature the RACQ podcast series, showcasing expert tips on motoring, road trips, travel, transport and lifestyle, as well as a fully redesigned and improved Digital Road Ahead (for subscribing members). The e-newsletters have also been overhauled.

RACQ Head of Publishing Jim Mathers said the new RACQ Living was better suited to providing members the content they sought from RACQ, in an easy-to-digest format.

“The big difference with the new site is that the content is a lot more focused, based on member expectations,” Mr Mathers said.

“We will have a lot of motoring-related content, as that’s what people expect from RACQ, and stories around road trips and holidays, as well as general lifestyle content that fits well with their day-to-day entertainment needs.

“The content will be managed by RACQ’s publishing team, which is also responsible for The Road Ahead, and will be delivered in a format that’s easy to navigate, highly functional and works well on any device.”

The Road Ahead Editor Deb Eccleston said the new website was a highlight of her career in publishing.

“It’s like having a new baby,” she said.

“It’s been a passion project and we are incredibly invested in providing the best experience for members.

“We really wanted to develop this as a ‘one voice’ approach for RACQ and consolidate our communication by creating a central content source.
