Granite Belt winery to host day of laughs
Popular comedy show makes first Queensland stop at Ballandean Estate.
The Granite Belt’s Ballandean Estate will host a blend of wine and wit when it hosts touring comedy show Grapes of Mirth.
Combining the very best in Australian comedy with wine regions' most beautiful backdrops and finest drops, Grapes of Mirth has established itself as a pre-eminent wine and comedy event.
The Ballandean Estate’s show on 18 September marks its first foray into Queensland.
Grapes of Mirth “head clown” Merrick Watts will MC the show and oversee the wine list.
“We’re rapt to be bringing Grapes of Mirth to Queensland’s premier wine region in the Granite Belt,” Merrick said.
“We’re bringing a line-up of absolute comedy guns from radio and television to perform.”
Grapes of Mirth will deliver six hours of non-stop entertainment paired with quality wines from several local wine producers, local beers and gourmet food.
Travelling DJ Pedro Moshman will keep the festival vibe going between sets and after the comedy show.
“Having thoroughly sampled the local wines of the region we can say they are a perfect match for the comedians, and together we create a full day of laughs and vinos on the green grass at Ballandean Estate Winery.,” Merrick said.
“I can’t wait… bring on the spring vibes.”
The comedy line-up will include:
- Luke McGregor, one of the best comedians in Australia, and star and co-creator of ABC hit show Rosehaven;
- Nikki Britton, who is coming in hot from her nomination for Best Show at the 2021 Melbourne Comedy festival.
- Harley Breen, Nikki’s co-host on NOVA podcast Mates Talking about Stuff.
- Mel Buttle, Brisbane’s Great Australian Bake-Off host and all-round brilliant comedian;
Damien Power, three-time nominee for Best Show at the Melbourne Comedy festival.
