Moonlight Cinemas Brisbane now located at Roma Street Parklands

Check out the new venue and February program.

Moonlight Cinema Brisbane has moved to the amphitheatre at Roma Street Parkland to showcase a long season of summer picnics and blockbuster films.

Set amongst an oasis of designer gardens and sprawling lawns, film-lovers can recline on a picnic rug underneath the stars and catch a flick on the big screen for a date, night out with friends or family gathering.

Moonlight Cinema General Manager Operations Entertainment John Boero said they jumped at the opportunity to move to the amphitheatre after operating the outdoor cinema at New Farm for the last seven years.

“When the opportunity came up to move to Roma Street Parklands we jumped at the chance,” Mr Boero said.

“The new site is set in a stunning parkland in the heart of Brisbane city, close to transport.

“Because it's a larger, purpose-built amphitheatre, the new space also offers a better screen, better sound and more seating options – without losing any of the outdoor charm that people love about Moonlight Cinema.”

Mr Boero said guests could enjoy a cocktail with their movie thanks to their partnership with Tia Maria Coffee Project.

“Guests can kick back and relax with a classic Tia Espresso Martini, sip on a Tia Popcorn Frappe, enjoy the ultimate Instagrammers cocktail or sample the Tia and Tonic – it’s perfect for those warm summer evenings,” he said.

“We have a fully licensed bar (in addition to Tia cocktails) and a hot food menu serving pizzas, salt and pepper squid, classic hot dogs and fried karaage chicken.”

Movie buffs can even bring along their own picnic to share, however as the venue is fully licenced, BYO drinks is not an option.

The February program features screenings of the newly-released Aquaman, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Bumblebee, How to Train a Dragon 3, Instant Family and Mary Poppins Returns, along with recent releases A Star is Born, Bohemian Rhapsody and The Favourite.

If your idea of romance is Ryan Gosling shirtless doing the Dirty Dancing lift with Emma Stone, then Moonlight’s Valentine’s Day screening of the comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love is the ideal date night flick.

Other fan favourite films hitting the big screen include Meryl Streep as the ultimate diabolical boss in The Devil Wears Prada and the fantastical cult hit The Princess Bride.

Don’t miss the hottest advanced screenings, new releases, family films and fan favourites under the stars this February.
