Here are our picks of the best films to be released for the 2019-2020 holiday season.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

 

The highly anticipated third film to the Star Wars trilogy sequel will land in Australia just before Christmas. The story will see the Jedi go up against the Sith for the final time in the series, creating a definitive end to the Skywalker saga.

Opens in cinemas 19 December.

Jumanji: The Next Level

In attempting to repair the game that once brought all his friends together, young Spencer is sucked back into the dangerous world of Jumanji. Realising that their friend is missing, his band of high school mates (and grandparents) re-enter the world in the hope of finding and rescuing their friend. Jumanji: The Next Level stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan.

Opens in cinemas 26 December.

Bad Boys For Life

The Bad Boys are back, reprising their roles as police detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett. A new threat has found its way to Miami in the form of a ruthless drug cartel threatening to undermine the city. With the help of newly formed elite team AMMO, the duo is tasked with taking down dangerous cartel leader Armando Armas. Look forward to plenty of action and just as many laughs. Bad Boys for Life stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

Jojo Rabbit

Set in the tumultuous times of World War 2, Jojo Rabbit follows the story of 10-year-old Jojo who discovers that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their home. As the war comes to an end, Jojo must protect the girl whilst his thoughts are led by his imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler.

Opens in cinemas December 26.

Cats

Based on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s award-winning musical of the same name, Cats follows a tribe of furry felines as they meet at the annual Jellicle Ball, where it will be decided who will journey to the Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a new life. Expect plenty of catchy songs and exciting dance numbers. Cats features an all-star cast including Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, James Corden, Rebel Wilson and Judi Dench.
